TechRepublic reports that Windows XP Service Pack 2 will offer enhanced features that will do a lot to improve the default security configuration of Windows XP. However, there may also be some problems for applications. The ICF (Firewall) will be enabled by default and messenger service will be disabled by default. That could cause problems. ZDNet has a great commentary article on the Council of Europe's cybercrime treaty. Birth of a Tornado

The pictures are from Kansas and document the formation of two small twisters starting with the cloud wall and rotation through touching down. Pretty good photography. Would have been smarter to get in a storm cellar, but the pictures are pretty awesome.

The UK National Crime Squad, the US FBI, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Australian Federal Police have joined together in a Virtual Global Task Force to combat the problem of pedophiles "grooming" children in chat rooms. Members of the task force will visit chat rooms and identify themselves to make sure that net users are aware that they are patrolling. The group will also be tackling other illegal activity on the Internet.

Escher's "Relativity" in LEGO ®

Way to much time on their hands, two British fellows, have recreated many of Escher's pictures with LEGO® components and have published the pictures on the above website. In the last month or so they've had about half a million visitors eyeball the results. And the results are pretty amazing. Apparently LEGO® was not too thrilled with this and asked the authors to make it clear that the project was not associated with the company.
