BlackBerry Bold - 9000 Model Announced

The folks at RIM unveiled the new BlackBerry 9000 today to the delight of gadgeteers and "crackberry" junkies. Engadget fielded one of the first stories early this morning with a great photo. (See, RIM's BlackBerry Bold/ 9000 gets official and other posts tagged BlackBerry9000) Melborne's HearaldSun.com.au joined in the fray with an insightful article, BlackBerry takes aim at iPhone. All told there were about 500 news articles today in blogs and mainstream media heralding the arrival of this new phone.

The new phone is pretty impressive with 3.5G HSDPA (we're talking faster downloads), built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, integrated Windows Live services, and the ability to sync with Apple's iTunes. For a full list of features check out the new official BlackBerry Bold Website.

If you want to compare it to the BlackBerry Curve, you can have a look at the BlackBerry Curve Website.

Pricing is estimated to be between $US 300-400 with a launch in coming months. No official word, but some are thinking this summer.
