Office 2007 Tip - Changing Old Files

For those of you who are just starting to use Office 2007, you may notice that your old Office files come up with a label like this: filename.doc, [Compatibility Mode] - Microsoft Word non-commercial use.

If so, click the ball in the upper right hand corner of your screen, then click on Convert (convert to microsoft office open XML File format). Your old file will be updated to the new 2007 format.

The good news is that this will likely reduce the size of your file allowing you to store even more stuff on your hard drive.

The bad news is that the file will only be usable by people with Office 2007 or people with Office XP or Office 2003 that have installed the Office 2007 Compatibility update.
