ACLU Scare Tactics http://www.aclu.org/pizza/images/screen.swf The ACLU is using a scare tactics flash presentation to oppose the Multistate Anti-Terrorism Information Exchange. The ACLU argues that this initiative would create a vast database that could be augmented by commercial databases such that many details of private lives could be catalogued. The flash presentation leads to a generalized set of concerns with vague references to news stories, but falls short of presenting any useful information on exactly what information is being used and by whom. Notably the call to action page neglects to explain just how a pizza place (depicted in the scare-tactics presentation) would get access to law enforcement information. This presentation might have made sense, if there was a call to action to limit how commercial data on your purchases is used by businesses, but that is not what the ACLU is doing. Instead it looks like a bait and switch presentation to me. | ||
